Thankful Missionary Baptist Church was organized by Deacon E.B. Bates in the year of our Lord 1892. The land was donated by Dr. J.C. Brigham for the purpose of Sunday morning services. The members that served in this organization at the time were: Deacons Dock Griffin and E.B. Bates; Sisters Violet Bates, Charlotte Cooper, Melissa Turner, Laura Ellison and Lugenia Griffin. 

Reverend N.H. Cooper was chosen as pastor.
